Much to our reluctance, and after some prodding by the community, ByHand.me has decided to accept donations for advertising costs that we incur on a daily basis. ByHand was created as a free community to help support handmade artists in order for them to get their work seen, connect with potential buyers, and to make sales. Until now we, Adam and Rebecca, have been paying for everything out of our own pockets as we want ByHand to be a non-profit community. We have refused to accept any funds to reimburse us for the server we purchased, the buyer targeted ads we've placed, our cost for bandwidth, the cost for tools to enhance programming features, or the time we've invested because we believe that strongly in the mission, and the committment to the ideals this site was founded on. However, in the interest in bringing more buyers to the community we realize we need to place more advertising, and we also realize we just can't keep doing this on our own from our own funds. While we do raise some funds through the use of Project Wonderful, and of course, entries in the Services and Supplies Directory, these funds are not producing enough to completely cover the costs of what we have scheduled for our own advertising.
So, if you'd like to donate to our advertising fund to target buyers you may do so here. Please know that every cent you donate goes back out in maintanence and advertising. While, we maintain that we are "non-profit", we have no legal standing there, so any donation you make is not eligible for tax deduction at this time. If you believe in our mission, we would love to have you as a financial contributor.
