I grew up during the turbulent 70's and was heavily influenced by the hippie scene. The rich, succulent, juicy, colorful, creative energy I absorbed during those days has had a profound influence on my life and my art.

I learned to sew in high school and have the fondest memory of creating the gaudiest, mis-matched, patched, wide-legged bellbottomed jeans you ever saw. (Oh, to have them today!) In college I discovered paper collage and mod-podged photos and eclectic memorabilia on every available surface. After that I got into dried floral/herbal art, to which I added found objects (bird nests, shells and rusty hardware). My irreverent signature was lots of glitter and glitz over all. Today I like to tell people that I am an 'eclectic-mixed-media-collage-assemblage-artist'-which is just a long name that means I have tried every form of art media, couldn't decide which I liked best, so I kept them all.

My GYPSY BAGS (and JUNK JEWELRY) are fashioned from sumptuous, VINTAGE fabrics and RECYCLED, REPURPOSED found jewels, buttons and ric rac.. Sewn with meticulous attention to detail...I often embellish stitch on the outside to get the 'shabby chic' look I am known for. The handles are vintage belts and luscious SILK NECKTIES. The sassy GLASS FRINGES hoisted off lampshades. And...Oh, how I love hand-dyed FEATHERS. The final touch: heaps of RHINESTONES!
